Social protection key to prevention of HIV/AIDS: NACO

NACONew Delhi, Dec 11: Social protection for families suffering from HIV/AIDS is one amongst the key ways to stop the unfold of the illness, the National AIDS management Organization (NACO) aforesaid Tues.

The National AIDS management Programme (NACP), below the leadership of department of AIDS management, acknowledges the very fact that reduction of vulnerability is essential to the hindrance, care, support and treatment of HIV/AIDS, Luv Verma, secretary, AIDS management department, aforesaid at a news conference here.

“So abundant therefore, the fourth section of the National AIDS management Programme (NACP) has social protection in concert of its core ways,” he said.

Social protection refers to public interventions to help people, households and communities to manage risk higher which provides support to the critically poor.

In order to facilitate exchange of thoughts and experiences, the department of AIDS management together with international organisation Development Programme (UNDP) India, is hosting a two-day international conference on HIV sensitive social protection.

The conference can have illustration from fourteen completely different countries which is able to embrace participants from various governments, civil society and communities of individuals living with HIV.

There would even be illustration from varied departments and ministries of the govt, civil society, marginalized teams and specialists.

Approximately two hundred participants are expected to attend the two-day event here starting Wednesday.

According to a 2006 study, average HIV family financial gain is lower by thirty four % than non-HIV households.

Close to forty % of adults living with HIV within the country are girls, of whom forty three % live alone with none reasonably assets and support systems.
