New Delhi, Oct 3, 2016: SC has no authority to ask Centre to set Cauvery board. The Centre on Monday informed the Supreme Court that it has no jurisdiction to direct it to set-up the Cauvery Management Board because it was only a advice of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal and never binding on the federal government.

Whereas fixing the listening to on the appliance on Tuesday at 2.00 p.m., the bench reminded the Attorney General that he had agreed on the final date of listening to that the Centre would represent the Cauvery Administration Board by October four as SC has no authority to ask Centre to set Cauvery board.

The Attorney Basic informed the bench that he had made a mistake by committing to arrange the Cauvery Management Board.

Even because the Centre tried to wriggle out of its dedication to arrange the board, the bench questioned Karnataka why it has not launched the water when SC has no authority to ask Centre to set Cauvery board.

“Have you ever launched some water? There generally is a half compliance of our order. We will perceive your problem,” it stated as senior counsel Shekhar Naphade, showing for Tamil Nadu, stated Karnataka has not launched any water as directed by the courtroom.

As Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi urged the court to listen to the Centre’s software looking for modification of September 30 order, Naphade opposed it, asking what was the hurry as Karnataka was not complying with the courtroom’s order and won’t comply in any respect as SC has no authority to ask Centre to set Cauvery board.
