ANIMALSydney, May 05: New Zealand’s Prime Minister John Key Monday dominated out testing legal medication, including artificial cannabis, on animals, days once parliament prohibited the drugs’ sale till evidenced as low-risk.

Key aforesaid the department of health told him that the tests would need to be done on alternative species like rabbits likewise to ascertain whether the medicine were low-risk for humans.

“As so much as i am involved if a product has to be animal tested and is the solely manner for the Health Department to verify it’s low-risk, then it can’t be factory-made in New Zealand,” Key told native channel TVNZ.

“It’s one issue to check it on an animal if you’re developing a life saving drug for cancer, however it’s quite different issue for a narcotic,” the prime minister added .

New Zealand’s government is pushing through a legislation desperately on to ban the usage of legal highs till evidenced low-risk for human consumption.

The opposition Labour Party had submitted a petition with 40,000 signatures asking the govt. to ban animal testing for legal highs.
