BHEL commissions first supercritical thermal unit in Bihar

BHEL-Logo_0New Delhi Dec 1 : State-run gear main BHEL Sunday commissioned its first 660-MW supercritical thermal unit at NTPC’s Barh energy plant in Bihar.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) mentioned its 660 MW Boiler Turbine Generator (BTG) unit for Stage II Unit 4 of state-owned generator nationwide Thermal energy enterprise’s (NTPC) thermal undertaking attained full load.

“The super vital steam parameters for this challenge – effectivity and heat rate – are better than these of similar supercritical projects at the moment underneath set up by way of others,” a BHEL statement said.

The company won the order for 660 MW sets for the 1,320 MW venture thru global aggressive bidding. The scope of labor incorporated design, engineering, manufacture, provide and erection.

BHEL, which will manufacture thermal units having 1,000 MW rating, is at present executing orders for supply and set up of 27 steam generators and 24 generators with supercritical parameters of 660 MW, 700 MW and 800 MW scores.
